Job: Research and Development / Science Shift: 1 Travel: Occasional
We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our Physical Science group. The job responsibilities of the candidate are primarily: (1) identification and characterization of novel materials/technologies (e.g., polymers, surface modifiers, optical materials, waxes, bio-physical materials) to support development of new cosmetic products by working with external partners, (2) active participation in cross-functional teams to drive development of new and unique cosmetic product prototypes. Providing technical consultation to help trouble shoot technical problems associated with physical chemical properties of products, as needed, is also expected. The candidate is expected to plan and conduct multiple assigned project assignments, design and execute experiments, interpret test result and provide recommendation for next steps. In performing the above duties, the candidate is expected to interact effectively with different groups within the Research & Development organization and to build productive relationships with them. Job Requirements
The candidate for this position will have a MS/Ph.D. (Ph.D. preferred) in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Sciences, or equivalent scientific discipline and 0-2 years of related working experience. Candidate must have a strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more of the technical areas of: rheology, tribology, polymer chemistry, material science/characterization, material performance, biophysical material characterization, emulsions, dispersions, suspensions, pigments, and/or coatings. Prior working experience with cosmetic products is a plus. The candidate should display a strong history of leadership, teamwork, technical agility and multitasking ability. The candidate must be capable of working independently and effectively. The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Creative thinking and innovative problem solving skills are essential.
